Los Alamos, New Mexico — May 21, 2026 — Los Alamos Medical Center (LAMC) announced today that Michael H. Covert, FACHE, has been appointed chief executive officer, effective June 15. Covert will replace Bob Singletary, who has been serving as interim CEO since March.
Covert brings decades of healthcare leadership experience with a strong focus on community access, quality of care, and collaboration with physicians, caregivers, and local partners. He has led hospitals and health systems across the country, helping organizations grow services, strengthen operations and quality, and meet the evolving needs of the communities they serve.
Covert recently served as chief operations officer at Northeast Georgia Health System, where he supported day-to-day operations for a five-hospital system, expanded key clinical service lines, and improved care coordination and patient flow. His career also includes senior leadership roles at CHI St. Luke’s Health System in Texas, Palomar Health in California, Washington Hospital Center, and Sarasota Memorial Health System.
“Michael is a seasoned healthcare leader whose career reflects a deep commitment to patients, caregivers, physicians, and the communities his hospitals have served,” said Linda Daly, chair of the LAMC Board of Trustees.” We are confident his experience and operational acumen will help Los Alamos Medical Center continue to meet our community’s needs today and into the future.”
Covert holds a Master of Health Administration from Washington University School of Medicine and a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Washington University School of Business in St. Louis, Missouri, and is a Fellow of the American College of Healthcare Executives.
